“Great hotel, excellent service!”

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bangkok. The hotel is very clean, has exceptional facilities including gym and spa and the service is excellent. Rooms are serviced twice daily and very comfortable for the busy traveller.

“Value for Money +++”

The hotel is just like its photos - clean, modern, minimalisitic but very comfortable and the air conditoning works a treat! The food is fresh, healthy and flavoursome. The staff are all friendly and supportive. The only "be aware" moment was when I attempted to traverse the limestone driveway to the front door after a period of rain - be warned, the limestone tiles when wet are like walking on ice. Very slippery, to the point of being dangerous. Fortunately, a porter saw me in my dilemma and ran to my rescue. Highly recommend this hotel! Just avoid the driveway after rain!!

“Good hotel; bad food”

I really liked the hotel and the staff over-all, but the quality of the Thai food left a lot to be desired. The chefs kept cooking it "fusion" style and that made it taste unworthy of the hotel. I only wish they had cooked the food in a more authentic Thai manner...

Area recommendations

I'd recommend staying near Siam Square as it is the center of most of the shopping and lifestyle options for middle-class and upper-level Thais. It's clean and convenient too...

“Good stopover hotel”

I'd read really glowing reviews about the Metropolitan, so my expectations were high. The foyer is impressive, as is the pool. Service was also very good. The carpet in the hallways outside the room looked as if it had been flooded and was still stained from that. They need a revamp. The room itself was spacious and the bathroom impressive (I booked a Metropolitan Room). We got a good deal on the rate so it was good value for money. The Met bar was dissappointing. Thursday night and it was dead quiet.

Getting around

Traffic in Bangkok is atrocious! We arrived at peak hour (5pm) and it took us 2 hours to get from the airport to our hotel. Even on the Expressway we spent most of the trip in crawling traffic. Going back to the airport the next day at 11am and the trip took 35 minutes!

“Loved the Staff!”

The staff made it for me. EXTREMELY WONDERFUL! The only negative thing for me was that it seemed a bit hidden from the street and it was a bit blocked by the Banyan Tree. I would stay again and recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Better than expected”

It is a great hotel in a great location. We were there during the Red Shirt political demonstrations and were not affected at all. The service is perfect and the food that comes from the "healthy" restaurant is superb.
