“Bangkok's hidden gem”
We were initially hesitant to book at the hotel since the name did not seem impressive & it was far from the city center. We did some research & decided to book when we found out that it was managed by the Accor Group. We got the room we expected. The cost of a room night for the 67+sqm studio room was lower than other hotels' standard 30+sqm room. It had a big bathroom, big walk-in closet, and small enclosed kitchen complete with utensils, china & cooking tools. Though guests would have to take a 10 to 15 minute walk to the nearest BTS station, taxis frequently passed infront of the hotel, so commuting was no problem. Taxi rides were short to other areas of interest such as the shopping district & the Suan Lum Night Bazaar. The Buffet was not so great, but it was not part of the package price we paid for anyway. Not getting the free breakfast rate also provided us the flexibility of choosing where we wanted to eat in the morning. The hotel is also near a Catholic church (Holy Redeemer Church) and a recommended restaurant (Curries & More). The hotel also charged us a special discounted rate for our last day stay, from 12 noon to 8PM, since our flight back was still at midnight. By paying the special rate, we were able to rest & freshen up before heading to the airport. I would certainly recommend this hotel to those who are looking for a value for money hotel(but still managed by a reputable hotel chain) & those who don't mind being slightly away from the city center.
“Nice hotel”
It was a little difficult to find but over all it was a very nice hotel. The staff was real polite and the room was large and comfortable.
“Chateau de Bangkok - good price hotel”
The hotel was quite cosy - air conditioned. Walking distance to other majors inc. coffee shops and main road. The small ktichen inc. an urn and tea and coffee facilites but no mini bar. Did not eat at the hotel. Needed an early brekky one morning and was advertised that breakfast would be served from 6 am. However 6.15 and no brekky available - had to leave for tour on empty stomach as food was still another 10-15 mins away. Staff were very helpful - Ping Pong was great at advising us what to see, where to go and what to wear in various places due to local customs. Hotel was a good place to bed down and well priced. Would stay again.
“Great for the Bht”
Good value for the money.
“Good value. Bad food. No facilities.”
This hotel is run down and in need of a serious makeover. I'd book it again for the value and the effort the staff make if I was stuck for somewhere to stay. But now that the gym and pool are closed the hotel has zero attraction as the rooms are old and musty, the restaurant is bad unless you like Pizza every day. The whole place needs a radical makeover and a new menu for the restaurant. Full points to housekeeping and bell men/security for their efforts to help guests. They do try hard with very limited resources. Checking-in takes forever, they are sooo slow at Reception. It took me 25 minutes to check in as the reception kept answering the phone and dealing with other guests who were less patient than me. One person on front desk really is not enough.
“Run Down Facility with Musty Rooms in Good Location”
This hotel is old and in need of an upgrade. The restuarant has a very limited variety of food and does NOT offer room service after 10:30pm. The reality is that Chateau de Bangkok is much more of a dated apartment residence than a proper hotel. The location is good and the staff are pleasant if a bit nosey. A good revamp of the rooms and restaurant facilities would see the occupancy rate jump to 90% as the location is excellent.
