“Chill & Relax”
The hotel itself is small, but easy to adopt as home for our 3 weeks. With the pool right at the room door, in a well tended garden with beautiful colour, stretching back from reception, past the open air restaurant area, it felt a safe oasis, not that there was any need to feel otherwise. First stop was the Pudak Spa across the Lane from the hotel and they were so good I visited everyday. Such luxury. At first the location appears a bit out of the way, but out on the road there are plenty taxis and people to help, it suited us perfectly a short wander to the beach area with cafes, restaurants, small shops & stalls. People are so friendly that by the time we left we felt local.
“Comfortable, quiet & conveniently located”
Rooms are good sized, clean and comfortable with all the basic facilities including air conditioning & tv. Situated up a quiet side street, the hotel is within 5 mins easy walk to the beach, shops, markets and a wide choice of restaurants, from cheap take aways to top class dining. Staff are really friendly and go out of their way to help with any queries or problems, and can help with tour bookings or recomendations. Nice restaurant on site, reasonable breakfast choices. Good sized outdoor pool which is kept clean & tidy.
“Highly recommend!”
This hotel has a great staff. All of your needs and requests are responded to immediately. We would definetly use this hotel on a future vist. It's not on the beach. but on the sanur side of the island the beach is not great for swimming anyway. The pool is a good size and beautiful. All your needs are withing walking distance. We were not uncomfortable walking down the small road to the hotel during the day or night.
“Very satisfied - good value for money!”
The hotel is down a little dingey alleyway, which quite alarmed me when we drove up in the taxi. At that point, I was thinking "What have I done?" But once I got into the foyer, it was like another world. The gardens are lush and immaculate, the pool area is lovely and the restaurant (and food) is gorgeous. The room was basic and some things could be improved, like a window that wouldn't shut properly, and an A/C that leaked water. Also, the free wi-fi was only available in the restaurant (so ask for a room close to it if this is important) and there were no English-language TV stations available. Also, pool side loungers were in short supply. The staff though are excellent, helpful, polite and could never do enough to ensure I learnt a bit more Indonesian lol. There is a small mini-mart just 2 minutes walk away, ATM's about 3-4 minutes away, and the beach is about 10 minutes walk away. I had a 2nd storey room but the views were awful. Out the front window it over-looked the pool area (beautiful) but to the sides and rear, it was roof-tops and a building site! Thru the building site, though, I could just see the ocean! The more I got used to Bali (this was my first trip), the more I got used to the dingey back alleyway and the building sites/roof tops for these are the norm in Bali. I'm definitely going back to both Bali and this hotel and look forward to seeing their lovely staff again!
“We loved our stay”
Hotel is peaceful and beautiful, people are very sweet and helpful. Our room was cleaned every day. The restaurant is not the best but the food was alright. Surrounding restaurants were much better. Breakfast at the hotel wasn't really my preference. They are very helpful with booking tours, massages, spa, travel. The pool is nice too. But a lot of people and not many pool chairs so if you like spending the day by the pool, you gotta be early! Over all very nice hotel thou, I would stay there again.
“Completely recommandable”
A little remote from the main area where the tourist are, but everything was easaly accessible. Like most places in Indonesia, staff was very friendly and helpfull.
“Will definitly return!!”
We arrived very late at the hotel as our plane only got in around 2 AM. Sadly, I had only made reservations for the night after since we thought we'd be coming in later the following day. However, the hotel staff was extremly helpfull as they helped us find another hotel at a cheaper price and even went all the way to bring us there since it was very late. The next day we returned and checked in to room at the mentari. The atmosphere is beautiful and the staff at the restaurant were extremely friendly! we also enjoyed the 24h00 pool! The room was very clean and we loved the high ceilings! The bathroom was a bit dirty but it wasn't a big problem! We loved our stay and we would definitly return!
“gotta love bali”
Hotel is located down a small alley that is a bit dirty but then the entrance is clean and welcoming and almost majestic compared to it's surroundings. We were greeted with very friendly and helpful staff who spoke good enough english for us not to have many communication problems. We enjoyed welcoming and happy encounters with the rest of the staff throughout our stay. My wife had a massage around the corner at ayu spa and the price was right. I had a massage with a nice older lady that comes to the hotel but was not satisfied at all and her price was double what the spa's charge, then for the next couple of day's she was very pushy to get more business. Best if you just have nice conversation with her and don't show any interest in her massage. The beach was a close walk from the hotel with all amenities close by. The pool was lovely and kept very clean and the gardens are peaceful and well maintained. You can keep valuables at the office in some locked boxes they have, not the most secure but watched by the desk staff which is better than leaving stuff in your room as all the cleaning staff have master keys for rooms. Service and food was great, breakfast supplied. My family and I highly recomend this for a very nice and affordable stay. Thanks. Bring your own sunscreen!!! it is hard to get zinc or any other good stuff and what is here is expensive
“Excellent Value for Money Hotel”
Our stay at The Mentari Hotel was excellent! The staff were so helpful and friendly all the time! The garden was really well maintained and the pool area was nice too. The breakfast served each morning was delicious and always served with a smile. The tours the hotel organised were very good, and they even tailor-made a tour to North Bali for us - all reasonable priced too! The area Sanur is a rather quiet area so don't expect any nightlife. Overall the hotel was very good value for money and I would recommend it to budget travellers who like a quiet spot to stay.
“Small, quiet, but very nice”
The hotel is nice, with an entry main office building, a open air restaurant building, and 2 buildings with rooms, where 1/2 the rooms are 2nd floor (up stairs no elevator). A nice little pool is tucked in between the restaurant and the rear building. The rooms are spartan, but clean, and maintained. Twin beds or a king (combined twins), and built in closet/dresser/desk furniture. Only one extra outlet in the room the others supply the lights and small TV (with only local channels). Bathroom with toilet and shower. The food was very good for the most part, all the indonesian dishes were great. Just skip the pizza (made with ketchup). The Mentari Sanur is located in an alley way (small street) opposite the entrance to the Inara Grand Bali. Taxi driver from the airport had trouble finding it, having to call several friends to get directions. This is at the north end of the Sanur beach area, which seems to be going down hill a little due to the beach errosion.
