“First choice for North Shore stays”
Friendly and helpful staff, no question was too silly! The room was a fabulous size, more a home away from home than your standard hotel suite! Close to the motorway, quite and private. Thank you for a lovely stay...see you in January!
“Auckland Gem”
Box of birds!
“Good Hotel in Takapuna”
The web site does not do justice to this hotel. I was expecting a motel-standard room judging by the photos on the web site, but this is actually comparable to a Novotel or Holiday Inn. It is worth getting a room in one of the higher floors which have an amazing view over the ocean and the neighbourhood. There are 2 nice bars and they offer free wine tasting between 5 and 7 pm; I did not try the Thyme restaurant as we were there for a family event and all meals were at the family home. The hotel has a well equipped gyam, tennis court and swimming pool. If I am in Takapuna again, I would definitely stay at The Spencer. The negative aspects of the hotel are the unattractive and conflicting decor of the reception area, the tasteless and sometimes repulsive art on display and the unavailability of wireless internet beyond the 2nd floor.
“Nice Location”
This was a very reasonable hotel in a nice location with an excellent view of Auckland. Rooms were decent size and lot's of local restaurants and shops walking distance.
“Great place to stay.”
Great Hotel. The room was excellent, good service and I had an amazing view.
“Simply put - "Great".”
Cannot fault Spencer on Byron. Greeted with a big smile at check in, offered an upgrade at a very reasonable price and never looked back from there. Superb food in the restaurant, superb service to match. Not downtown Auckland but Takapuna is still very easy to get around Auckland from. No shortage of other restaurants to eat in within 10 mins walk. It is a mainly residential suburb around a small commercial centre, 5 min walk to one of Aucklands nicest beaches. We will not hesitate to stay there again on our next visit.
“great hotel, would use again willingly.”
we wanted an early check in, staff obliged without hesitation. excellent buffet breakfast. good secure parking easy access to public transport.
