“Great location”
Great location, a bit hard to find. I would stay here again. Price is right. Dorothy
“Excellent Hotel - front desk was wonderful!”
This hotel surprised us. We got a good price on expedia and considering it was during the World cup we were amazed at what good value it was. Nice room, clean and comfortable. The bed was great. The only recommendation we would have is to provide some more towel rails and perhaps a shelf to put things on in the bathroom. We were in a disabled room, even though we are not disabled and found it was short on facilities in the bathroom. Even if you are disabled you need to hang your towel up and put things on a shelf, not on the floor. Apart from that we were very happy with the hotel in general and the front desk so so obliging with any small request we had. If we ever visit Auckland again we would consider staying here again. It was in walking distance to the shopping centre with a Denny's down the road and a convenience store and bottle shop across the road. The city mission was across the road too but you would never know it, and it didn't impact on our stay at all.
“Vicki”
the room is cleaned, staffs are helpful and friendly. Thank you
“Pleasant stay”
We found the location to be very convenient for the central city. The immediate surroundings are a little seedy, but we did not feel at all unsafe. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful and the hotel was clean and comfortable..
“nice hotel”
It's a nice hotel
“great value/we would stay there again!”
auckland city hotel on hobson was convenient to downtown and many restaurants. clean rooms, great value and plenty of space for a downtown location. we were initially disappointed when hearing the internet was not free, but found the $10/hr worked for us. auckland was built on hills...so keep this in mind when planning your hike to and from transportation hubs. the neighborhood seemed pretty safe...the only issue was our catching the "airbus" to the auckland airport 4 am sunday morning. queen street was full of inebriated party animals, litter and a bit dicey. we did not encounter that when catching the "airbus" 2 weeks earlier 4 am on a tuesday. i would recommend airport shuttle service from your hotel for early sat or sunday am transportation.
“Comfortable”
Overall the Hotel was great, the staff were a little indifferent at times, but they certainly didn't give me cause for complaint. The room was clean and comfortable. My room overlooked some sort of tenement building that was quite noisy all night. The homeless and junkies hanging around at the entrance at all times was quite off-putting, but they didn't cause any trouble. I was upgraded to an Executive room over 2 levels which was a nice touch, the full kitchen certainly made it a cheaper stay, being able to make my own breakfasts. The couches weren't very comfortable, but the bed was one of the best I have ever slept in. Location was good, very close to the Sky Tower and not far from the main shopping strip.
“Perfect hotel for solo traveler”
I was very pleased with Auckland City Hotel. The room was very clean and inviting and the staff is excellent. It was my first time in New Zealand and they were very helpful to direct me to some neat little shops and restaurants. When I was trying to get to the city of Hamilton, the staff was extremely helpful in finding the best mode of transportation for me and even booking passage on a bus. The area itself seems a bit dodgy at first, but there were times when I was walking back to the hotel well past midnight and at no point did I not feel safe. If you have 5 star taste then perhaps look elsewhere, but if you just need a clean, comfortable place to stay, I highly suggest this hotel. I plan on returning to Auckland within a year and I will gladly stay here again.
“Good value on Hobson”
Auckland city hotel on Hobson was good value. The room we had was on the third floor but it was very spacious and was self contained. The room was very clean. House cleaning was a bit busy with e new years eve festivities and did not get to our room until 4 pm daily. The breakfast was awful: fruit salad and miffins had no flavour. In cooked food they served fried rice and a noodle dish with the standard hash browns, scrambled eggs and baked beans.
“NOT IMPRESSED”
Difficult to find, Given room with no lift access and then charged for parking our car. Bathroom not clean. I don't believe it deserves it's star rating.
