“Fabulous Apartment”
Have come back from having 8 nights at the Monte Santo and what a fabulous holiday. Very spacious and clean and so comfortable, slept very well. I couldn't fault the resort at all. I had requested a first floor room and we got a ground floor but asked to change which was done without problems. It was very quiet when we were there, in fact we had a pool to ourselves for 2 days. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on that. It is a bit of a walk into the centre of Carvoeiro but we enjoyed the walk and always got a cab back for 5 Euro as it's up a steep hill. There are enough sunbeds to go round and although quite a few children there you could find a quiet spot if you wanted. Will definately being returning
“Good value for money”
We were pleased in all respects with this resort . Our suite was better than expected , there was plenty of pool area for the kids , you are close to Carvoeiro village and some nice beaches if that is your thing . Would be quite happy to return .
“We got a bargain!”
We booked this 2 weeks before we left and were slightly worried how we'd managed to get a 5* resort for 6 nights, flying with BA for the price we paid. Reading around the internet we found that the resort was very new (perhaps not quite finished?!) and were slightly apprehensive about what we would find. We couldn't have been more pleased when we arrived. We had a two bedroon apartment which was modern, clean, spacious and well-equipped. It really exceeded my expectations. Not all 6 advertised pools were available but the main pool and indoor pool were. The main pool is massive with loads of sunbeds and since the resort is new it was never crowded, far from it. The town was about 10-15 minutes walk away (including a big hill on the way back) but was only 5 Euros in a taxi if we were feeling lazy! Overall I would definitely recommend this resort, we even had friends come out to join us when we told them how good it was! There's still a little bit to be finished but everything you need is there and to a very high standard.
“Fantastic facilties”
We picked this hotel for its facilities and we were not disappointed. This is a large complex rather than a traditional hotel. The main building 'the club house' which houses the main facilities - large heated indoor swimming pool, games room with pool table, fitness suite and dining area is set at the heart of a complex of apartments. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite which also had 2 ensuite bathrooms - marble clad and dining/kichen area with all the gadgets you could wish for including 3 tvs, cd player and dvd player. Our children particularly enjoyed the outdoor pool (not heated) which was just outside the club house. Food was ok - breakfast buffet was fine and service good but the hot food was a disappointment overall. We were B&B and ate out so that was no major problem. Finish to the hotel is first rate - I am an Architect so this is a professional view Overall a fantastic place to stay for families - very close to lots of great beaches and the water parks the kids enjoyed. Would recommend you rent a car to get around as the hotel is a long way from the local town.
“An excellent base for a walking holiday”
excellent quality resort with great accommodation. in January it was almost empty so we had the gym and pool to ourselves. we used it as a base for walking both in the hills and along the rugged coastline. you do need a car to enjoy the surrounding area but the town is only 15 mins walking.
“Great hotel, Great family holiday”
We arrived to a very nice welcome, check in included us being shown to our townhouse and given a tour by the reception gentleman. All areas of the hotel were clean and very well kept. Swimming pools in excellent clean condition. Buffet breakfast good with plenty of choice and lovely hot pastries. Rooms cleaned every day and towels changed. Car hire recomended.
“Appartment resort and town were lovely”
For people who like a laid back holiday experience with every facility you could need, the resort provided for this. The flat was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. My only negative comment would be that the Turkish bath at the indoor pool was broken, as was one of the bubble pools. Carvoeiro was a lovely resort -- the restaurants were all good. Not completely ruined by commercialism yet!
“Lovely hotel”
Hotel was so lovely and the staff were really helpful and friendly, overall a lovely hotel and would def recommend anyone to stay there
“Lovely resort, but slight worry when it is busy”
This is a new resort (Aug 2008) and there were still some minor works going on when we were there. This did not distract us however and we were very impressed by the quality of the resort, the size of, and the high standard of fittings in the apartment and the setting. Two words of warning: The resort is a little too far from the village for walking with children. However the resort provided a free mini bus service into the village and in the evening there are plenty of taxis available - fare is 5 Euro. We do worry how the resort will cope when it is full. The pool side bar is tiny and the waiter service quite slow. This may simply be a reflection of the time of year (Oct) and the number of residents (low).
“good choice”
We stayed at the hotel last week. We were slightly hesitant to book it since there were no reviews available but we ended up been quite lucky. Hotel opened it's doors in the begining of August so they were still trying to sort out few details. Found annoying the lack of wifi Internet support although you might argue you don't need it during your holidays. It's not far from the village centre but you definitely need a car. Good size swimming pool and descent food and cocktails offerred. Have to admit that the room standards are very high. Staff was very helpfull but spoke limited English.

Area:
Carvoeiro, Portugal: At the head of a long verdant valley the popular, pretty little resort of Carvoeiro opens onto a small golden cove. Steep cliffs dotted with traditional houses rise to either side while the surrounding area has been heavily developed with low-rise apartments. Fishing boats ferry holidaymakers to less busy picture-perfect coves at Benagil, Carvalho and Marinha. Adjacent, the curious eroded rock formations of Algar Seco are worth exploring.
