“Perfect getaway with great workout !”
The hotel is spread over several sites - we weren't in the main hotel area but had the best of both worlds as we benefited from the quietness of our apartment along with the use of any facilities in the hotel. The bigger pool was our favourite and everything was well maintained. Staff were always friendly but reception staff didn't always go that extra mile. Our one bed apartment was so spacious and had a great sea view (although you could see the golden arches from anywhere!). It's just a short (but uphill) walk up some stairs from the old town - much better if you want a more authentic Portugese experience than the hussle of the strip in the new town. It was also only a 10 minute walk to the beach but we were satisfied with our pool area to relax by. The little shop underneath the hotel is a little pricey but there's another supermarket not far from the square (down the stairs!)
“highly recommeded for those who want it quite”
hotel in perfect location for people who want a week or two pure peace.....not recommended for those with wheel chairs or severe disabilities or older people as hotel is located on a very very steep hill also alot of stairs to get to main square where shops resturants bars ect....
“Impressed with cleanliness of portugal”
The hotel was lovely the only problem being there was seperate apartments up on the hill which was very steep. But that said you could not complain of the cleanliness of all the facilities. There was a lovely indoor heated swimming pool plus your outside freshwater pools which were very cold, but it was the beginning of march. My overall rating was 5. The only downside was it was very steep going down never mind up, which is ok if you havent got any prams or lessabled people.
“going back soon for the fifth time”
superb hotel complex.unsuitable for people with walking difficulties,as you need to be reasonably fit to negotiate the steep hill that leads to the hotel.
“Nice accommodations”
The Cerro Mar apartments were very nice. The room was clean, lots of space and in a very good location. The staff at the service desk were extremely friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night so I am not able to comment all the services of the apartments but both days, the pool side was full and the families seemed to be enjoying the pool (which was very clean). I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel even if you are only looking for a hotel room.
“Usual High standard”
Apartments up to their usual standard, excellent in almost every way. Couldn't fault them. This is the 3rd year in a row we've been at these apartments and found them to be clean. Maid service is every day except Thursday. Apartment even had a dishwasher. Bit of a climb up from old town, so may not suit those who have trouble with mobility. Good pool, indoor & out, with a barbeque & entertainment Wed evenings. Bar also sells fairly good selection of food and is available till late. Also right next to reception is a supermarket, really handy. PS Beware, as usual, of the scratch card touts. They'll tell you that you've won a prize and cajole you into a trip to a hotel where they will, if yoiu're not careful, be parted with a few thousand pounds if you buy a holiday club membership. Don't be fooled.
“Excellent Accomodation, Well situated and Very secure but....”
The Cerro Mar is very well situated; being 5 mins walk down a number of steps (not suitable for pushchairs/wheelchairs) to the old town of Albufiera and 10 mins taxi ride to the new town "The Strip". The accomodtaion iteself is on a steep hill overlooking the old town and the sea. Facilities include, gym, sauna, 2 swimming pools (indoor/outdoor), bar/resteraunt and mini market. The apartments are kitted out with a nice kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and electric hob; TV and remote control air conditioning units (1 in lounge and 1 in bedroom) and a good size bathroom. The buffet breakfast includes; scrambled egg, sausages, beans, juice, ham, cheeese, yoghurt, toast and cereals. This is adequate although I would advise not to drink to much juice as it is a cordial and not natural. The accomodation is secure with having locked gates and card controlled access to the lobby. Overall very good with a regular maid cleaning service and helpful reception staff. The major put off though for some people, though not for my friend and I, was the sheer amount of building work taking place over the road and in the surrounding area! Whilst we were able tolerate it I'm not sure everybody would be able to; very often we were awoken at 7.30am by the sound of pile drivers and cranes!
“Good Value but don't expect to be pampered”
We checked in late at night and was dispatched to find our own room in a 5-building complex, with two kids and luggage up snd then down hill, so we were less than impressed when we found our room in the basement. However, after a nights rest everything looked better in the sunshine. The kitchen was very well equiped with dishwasher, kettle, toaster and proper oven etc. There are various pools dotted around the complex which you can use (except the one in the hotel.) The apartment was spacious and well located near the old town (down a hundred steps, beware those of you with prams) and a beautiful sandy beach. We ate out most nights and the old town square has plenty to eat and see, but if you fancy cooking, Lidl (supermarket) is about 10 mints walk up hill with everything you need.
“We were not in the apartment pictured.”
The apartment we stayed in was next door to the pictured apartment. Staff told us 2 days into the stay that we could use that apartments facilites. There are 100 steps & steep slope to the town. Steps outside reception very dangerous, slippery & steep. Beds very hard. Apartment large & spacious but horrible view from balcony of building site.

Area:
Albufeira, Portugal: The former little white fishing village of Albufeira, now densely developed beneath a sea of apartments and mid-rise blocks, is the regions most popular resort. The pretty Old Town is wall-to-wall restaurants and bars, though some local establishments and residential areas still remain. Its picture-postcard Fishermans Beach, with spectacular ochre cliffs and rock stacks, remains an iconic, albeit often very crowded, Algarve sight.
