Escape the crowds and discover a calmer, more relaxed side of Xochimilco through two nature and culture-focused boat tour options designed for travellers seeking a more authentic experience.
Both experiences include traditional Mexican corn-based snacks, refreshments, a local guide, and entrance to an axolotl sanctuary, where you’ll learn about this unique and endangered species native to Xochimilco.
2-Hour Experience – Classic Ecological Route
This option explores the main ecological canal of Xochimilco, offering a balanced mix of local atmosphere, culture, and nature. While the route passes through more active waterways, it still includes calmer stretches where you can appreciate the scenery, chinampas, and local traditions.
3-Hour Experience – Deep Ecological Reserve
The extended route ventures deeper into the ecological reserve, far from the central canals. Here, the waterways become quieter and more natural, allowing for a more immersive experience surrounded by flora, fauna, and the peaceful side of Xochimilco.
Throughout the journey, your local guide shares insights into the ancient chinampa agricultural system, native biodiversity, local traditions, and the historical use of these waterways for farming, transport, celebrations, and filmmaking.
This experience is designed to maintain a calm and personal atmosphere. In many cases, the boat is private. On busier days, it may be shared with a very small number of guests (max 6), always preserving a relaxed and uncrowded environment.
This is not a party tour, but a cultural and ecological Xochimilco experience focused on nature, history, and authenticity.
If your group has more than 6 guests, please contact us before booking — we’re happy to accommodate larger groups upon request.
