Just 45 minutes north of Auckland, Sheepworld is one of New Zealand's most loved farm experiences, welcoming visitors from around the world for over 38 years. Set on a working farm in the heart of Warkworth, this is your chance to slow down, connect with the land and discover the soul of Kiwi rural life.
Explore the farm park at your own pace and get up close with a wonderful cast of resident animals, including sheep, alpacas, goats, chickens and the impossibly adorable Swiss Valais Blacknose, widely regarded as the world's cutest breed of sheep. Bottle feed lambs and calves, join the daily guided feedout tour as the farmer makes their rounds, and wander the Eco Discovery Trail, an easy 10-minute loop through lush native bush featuring beautiful sculptures from Morris and James Pottery, Matakana.
The highlight of any visit is the famous Shearing Show. Watch skilled sheepdogs round up the flock, brave volunteers help sort the sheep through drafting, and a professional shearer demonstrates the art of shearing live on stage. It is fun, educational and full of authentic Kiwi charm, suitable for every age and held undercover so it goes ahead in all weather.
Round out your day with great organic coffee and house-made food at the on-site cafe, using local and farm-fresh ingredients, then browse the gift shop before you head home.
Every visit to Sheepworld supports Springboard, a charitable trust dedicated to empowering local young people with skills and employment opportunities. Sheepworld also holds a Qualmark Silver Sustainable Tourism Award, so you can feel good about how you spend your day.
