A unique route, to be experienced with your eyes turned upward, among the masterpieces that made Parma one of the capitals of the Italian Renaissance. Two geniuses, Correggio and Parmigianino, lived and painted here at the beginning of the 16th century, leaving the city with an unparalleled artistic legacy.
Within walking distance of each other, three churches house frescoed vaults that are breathtaking: the domes of San Giovanni Evangelista and the Cathedral, by Correggio, and the frescoes of the Steccata, by the young and visionary Parmigianino.
The route will continue in the Pilotta, to admire up close famous canvases such as Correggio's Madonna di San Girolamo and Parmigianino's Schiava Turca: an opportunity to appreciate the style, technique and details that made them so different and at the same time complementary.
Through this fascinating comparison, we will discover how, in a sort of long-distance artistic competition, the two painters transformed Parma into an unparalleled art workshop, making it shine in the firmament of the European Renaissance.
