What you can expect
This private Mount Agung hike to the highest peak at 3,142m or the southern peak at 2,900m at sunrise offers more than just reaching the summit. Led by a local guide born and raised near Mount Agung, this trek combines a challenging volcano climb and prayers at Bali's largest temple with an authentic cultural experience upon descent.
The climb begins at midnight, allowing you to reach the summit just in time for sunrise.
As dawn breaks, enjoy panoramic views above the clouds and across eastern Bali, with Mount Rinjani visible in the clear morning light, greeted by a beautiful sunrise.
Your local guide will lead you to a prayer before you begin the climb to ensure a smooth and safe ascent according to Balinese beliefs. He will carefully adjust your pace, rest stops, and route selection based on weather and trail conditions to ensure a safe and comfortable climb.
After completing the descent, the experience continues off the mountain. You will visit the home of a local Mount Agung guide or mountain family, where daily life is closely intertwined with the forest and the volcano.
Here, you can rest and recuperate while enjoying freshly brewed Balinese coffee and sampling natural forest honey collected from the surrounding area.
Depending on the season and local conditions, guests can also learn about traditional honey harvesting methods practised by the local community.
This includes live demonstrations led by experienced locals, who provide insight into how honey is sustainably harvested in the Mount Agung region.
This combination of summit adventure, sacred trekking, and village life creates a deeper connection with Bali's most sacred mountain, from its summit to the people who call it home.
