What you can expect

Discover the charm of Trancoso through its most fascinating stories, legends, and hidden corners on this engaging walking tour.
We will meet at the Trancoso Tourist Office, where we will start a walking tour through the historic old town. Our first stop will be the Chapel of Saint Bartholomew, one of the town's most symbolic sites.
We will continue to the statues of King Dinis and Queen Santa Isabel, where we will learn about significant episodes in Portuguese medieval history, before passing through the ancient Portas d'El Rei, one of the most iconic entrances to the wall.
Along the way, we will discover the enigmatic figure of Bandarra, passing by his statue and the Casa do Bandarra, where we will explore the impact of his prophecies. Afterwards, we will visit the Isaac Cardoso Jewish Culture Centre, which is essential for understanding the strong Jewish presence in Trancoso.
The tour then takes us to Poço do Mestre and the curious Casa do Gato Preto, two places steeped in local history. We will continue to the Church of São Pedro and the Pelourinho, symbols of the social and political organisation of the town over the centuries.
Before finishing, we will pass by the statue of João Tição, a popular figure in local tradition, and climb up to the imposing Trancoso Castle, where we will enjoy breathtaking views and conclude this journey through the stories that shaped the town, returning to the starting point, the Trancoso Tourist Office.
