Meeting/Redemption Point

    • Adachi City, Tokyo, Japan | Look for your guide holding a small "GAPPY TOUR" sign near the main entrance of Kitasenjuku Station West Exit Roundabout. The guide arrives 15 minutes before the start time and waits at the most visible spot by the entrance — if the entrance area is crowded, check within a few metres of the main gate or ticket area. Kitasenjuku Station West Exit Roundabout is the route's confirmed first anchor, so use its official entrance as the reference point rather than a side street. What you can expect

  • Begin your tour by walking through the Shukubacho shopping street and passing the Senjumotonihonkawa Shrine. Arrive at Anyoin Temple to view the relocated roof of a bathhouse that operated for 92 years.

After it closed, this roof was relocated to the grounds of Anyoin Temple—a physical reminder of a lost public space. Then, enter an active bathhouse to experience the ritual yourself.

Learn proper swimming etiquette before you go. The person at the ticket window becomes the final storyteller of that day—the last person to tell you about public swimming in this part of Tokyo.
