What you can expect

Walk through Terreiro da Luta, a peaceful viewpoint with historical significance and wide views over the city.

Continue into Funchal’s Nature Reserve for a short, gentle 20‑minute walk where you can see where the Ribeira das Cales is born and follow the historic Levada do Murray (1784).

Visit a small free museum dedicated to Madeira’s flora and fauna and observe how the vegetation shifts with altitude — an excellent area for spotting Madeiran birds.

Reach Pico do Arieiro at 1,800 m and enjoy 40 minutes among volcanic ridges, cloud formations, and dramatic high‑mountain scenery.

Finish in Camacha, where you can stroll through the main square and visit the site of Portugal’s first football match.

A calm, exclusive mountain route designed to avoid crowds and offer a smooth, comfortable experience in Madeira’s high‑altitude landscapes.
