Begin your journey in Zhinvali Reservoir, a stunning turquoise lake surrounded by mountains. This is your first photo stop — calm, scenic, and incredibly photogenic. The contrast between the blue water and green hills creates one of the most beautiful landscapes on the route.

Continue to the Ananuri Fortress, a historic fortress complex overlooking the reservoir. Explore its towers, old churches, and hidden corners while enjoying panoramic views. This place perfectly combines history, architecture, and nature.

Head to Pasanauri, a charming mountain village where two rivers — Black and White Aragvi — meet but don’t mix. It’s also known as the birthplace of khinkali, Georgia’s iconic dumplings. Here you’ll have the chance to stop for lunch and taste authentic local cuisine.

Next, visit the Gudauri Friendship Monument, a colourful Soviet-era monument built on the edge of a cliff. From here, you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Caucasus Mountains — one of the best viewpoints on the entire route.

Drive along the Gudauri Pass, one of the most scenic roads in the country. Depending on the season, you’ll see snow-covered peaks or lush green valleys. Every turn feels like a postcard.

Arrive in Stepantsminda, a cosy mountain town located at the foot of Mount Kazbek. This is where you truly feel the power and beauty of the Caucasus Mountains.

Finally, visit the Gergeti Trinity Church, the highlight of the tour. Located at 2,170 metres above sea level, this iconic church offers unforgettable views of Mount Kazbek. You can reach it by optional 4x4 jeep ride. The atmosphere here is peaceful, powerful, and truly magical.
