What you can expect

Leave the cruise ship port behind as you make your way from Tauranga to Rotorua, passing through Te Puke. Te Puke is the home to the NZ kiwifruit and you have the opportunity to tour an orchard that showcases the industry. Continue through farmland, native bush and forested areas, marvelling as you pass by lakes Rotoiti and Rotorua.

Arrive at Te Puia and go on a short trek through the geothermal valley of Whakarewarewa. See the natural wonders that make this area so unique, including mud pools, hot pools and the famous Pohutu geyser. Then, delight in a cultural performance as you watch the Maori show. Next up, you stop to see a purpose-built kiwi house where you can hopefully spot a Kiwi.

Next we drive through Rotorua city to see the scenic sights including Government Gardens, the Rotorua Bath House (now a museum), Rachel's Pool, the Blue Baths and other city sights depending on the time available.

The tour then departs from Rotorua for the return trip to Tauranga by an alternative route over hills and through deep gorges. On the way back, you drive through the Mount Maunganui region, where you can witness for yourself its famous beaches, harbour and the extinct volcanic core of the mountain itself. End your tour back at the cruise ship port, just in time to board your ship for another adventure.
