What you can expect

  • Experience the art of Edomae sushi in the home of a professional sushi instructor, just 7 minutes from Tokyo Station. In this small-group cooking class, step into a traditional Japanese home and learn how to prepare sushi using traditional methods.

The class is taught by Satoshi, a professional sushi chef and assistant instructor at a sushi academy in Tokyo. He has experience teaching sushi in cities including London, Paris, and Shanghai, and conducts the class in English, Japanese, and Chinese.

Learn about Edomae sushi and the use of traditional akazu, a red vinegar commonly used in this style of sushi. With step-by-step guidance from the instructor, prepare approximately 10 pieces of nigiri and one sushi roll while practising traditional sushi-making techniques.

During the class, discover the history of Edomae sushi and learn about Japanese food culture, ingredient preparation, and the techniques used to shape and present sushi. The small-group format provides an opportunity to interact with the instructor, ask questions, and receive guidance throughout the activity.

No previous sushi-making experience is required. All ingredients and equipment are provided, including the seafood, rice, vinegar, and other materials needed for the class. After preparing your sushi, sit down and enjoy the food you have made during the experience.
