What you can expect

  • Meet your guide at the main entrance of Barkarby commuter station and begin your journey to Görväln Nature Reserve. Start with a walk around Görväln Castle and Park, a 17th-century estate turned public recreation area overlooking Lake Mälaren. Hear local stories and enjoy the scenic views.

    After a short ride, reach Hummelmora Hage and stroll through its protected pastures, filled with wildflowers, ancient oaks, and grazing animals. Finally, arrive at Gåseborg, an ancient hillfort built between the Early Iron Age and Viking era (400-1100 AD), one of the largest of its kind in the region. Perched on a cliff above Lake Mälaren, it offers panoramic views and a glimpse into pre-Viking history.

    Conclude your experience with a traditional Swedish fika, enjoying a slice of seasonal homemade cake while taking in the horizon and islands of Mälaren. Afterwards, walk back and take a ride back to the station.
