Castillo de San Marcos National Monument (Pass by)

From the water, the Castillo de San Marcos feels less like a monument and more like a quiet sentinel. As the boat glides across the Matanzas River, the fort rises low and solid from the shoreline, its pale coquina walls glowing in the sun. Up close, the thick, rounded stone shows its purpose—built to absorb cannon fire, not shatter. Flags flutter lazily along the ramparts, and the watchtowers frame the sky.
