“Pirogi aren't just food — they're memories you knead, fill, and share. Here, we don’t just make them — we inherit them.”
What to Expect:
Step into a warm, welcoming kitchen where time slows down and recipes aren’t read — they’re felt. This workshop invites you to roll up your sleeves and rediscover the flavours of the past through Slavonia’s beloved pirogi, made just like grandma used to.
Pirogi are a common dish in this part of Slavonia thanks to a wave of migration from Galicia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
My own ancestors were among them, and that’s exactly why I now keep this tradition alive — by sharing it.
You’ll work with two traditional fillings:
• creamy mashed potatoes with onion and black pepper,
• and sweet pirogi filled with homemade fruit jam.
Both paired with Krauthaker wine.
Everything is done by hand, from the dough to the shaping — no machines, no shortcuts. Be ready to get your hands messy.
While the pirogi cook, we’ll sit together, share stories, and enjoy the first warm bites of what we’ve created together.
