What you can expect

  • Begin your tour with a convenient pickup from your cruise port or specified location. Head to Kochi Castle, one of Japan's most beautiful and historic original castles. Explore its magnificent main keep, which offers panoramic views of the city and the surrounding countryside from the top floor.

Next, visit Chikurin-ji Temple, a stop on the famous Shikoku Pilgrimage. Nestled on the sacred grounds of Chikurin-ji Temple, the Homotsukan (Treasure Hall) safeguards a breathtaking collection of cultural artefacts passed down through centuries. View exquisite Buddhist statues, ancient manuscripts, and personal items belonging to the revered monk Kukai, offering a profound glimpse into Japan's spiritual history.

Continue to Hirome Ichiba, the vibrant, beating heart of Kochi's food and social scene. Savour the prefecture's famous katsuo no tataki (seared bonito), along with countless other local delicacies, from fresh sashimi to savoury croquettes. Grab a drink and a plate, then find a spot at one of the long communal tables for a uniquely fun and delicious experience that captures the warm, friendly spirit of Kochi.

Finally, head to the Makino Botanical Garden, a stunning tribute to Kochi's native son, Dr. Tomitaro Makino, Japan's famed “Father of Botany.” Wander through extensive outdoor gardens showcasing the lush flora of Shikoku and explore fascinating greenhouse exhibits filled with exotic plants.
