What you can expect

  • Meet your private guide at your central Shanghai hotel at your preferred time. This private experience combines cycling and walking along the Huangpu River, taking you to Shanghai’s new Bund and local life beyond the city’s crowded tourist spots.

Once home to major industrial sites, the route still features traces of Shanghai’s industrial past, now blended with stylish waterfront spaces, contemporary art, culture and local life. It’s a unique way to experience the old and new sides of Shanghai together.

Along the way, you will pass by:

    1. West Bund Dream Centre
A vibrant new waterfront area that combines art, culture, dining and entertainment. What makes it special is that parts of the former Shanghai Cement Factory have been carefully preserved and transformed.

    2. Oil Tank Shanghai Art Centre
It was transformed from five huge aviation fuel tanks near the former Longhua Airport, one of Shanghai’s historic airports.

    3. Maritime Observation Tower
The Maritime Tower, built in the 1920s, once served as the headquarters of the Shanghai Port Authority and is now a symbol of Shanghai’s maritime legacy.

    4. Long museum
The museum's site was originally a coal wharf, a key industrial facility along the Huangpu River.

    5. Xuhui Riverside Planning Exhibition Centre
The community service centre offers services such as library, exhibitions and canteen. We can stop at local cafes or canteen to experience local Shanghai life.

    6. International Table Tennis Federation Museum and China Table Tennis Museum (Closed on Mondays)
It showcases the history and development of table tennis in China and around the world.

    7. Shanghai Huang Pu Riverside
This area was once home to the Jiangnan Shipyard, established in the 1860s, which played a significant role in China's industrial history. The Shanghai Submarine Museum offers a unique glimpse into naval history. Visitors can also enjoy panoramic views of the former site of 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

    8. Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art (Closed on Mondays)
The museum is housed in a former power plant that dates back to 1897.

    9. Nanpu Bridge
The Nanpu Bridge is one of Shanghai's iconic landmarks, spanning the Huangpu River and connecting the Puxi and Pudong areas. Completed in 1991, it was the first bridge to cross the Huangpu River from central Shanghai, significantly boosting the development of the Pudong area.

After the tour, you will be dropped off back to your city centre hotel or other city centre area as per your request.

Please note: This tour is mainly done by shared bikes, with some walking at different stops. Our guide will arrange the bike rental throughout the tour. As this is a private tour, the route and pace can also be adjusted according to your interests and preferences
