Go on a discovery tour that takes you from London’s early settlement as a Roman town to its rise during the British Empire to the financial metropolis it is today. Your scholar-guide specialises in this 2,000-year span of London history and discusses architectural landmarks as you walk past them.

Start out at one of the city’s oldest and most famous structures, the Tower of London. The incredible past of this former prison is sure to raise an eyebrow or two as you hear tales of punishment, torture and beheading.

Make your way to All Hallows-by-the-Tower, the oldest known church in the London area. Your guide will discuss the vast array of landmarks along the way—the ancient façade of the church of St Andrew Undershaft, the “inside-out” Lloyd’s Building designed in the ‘70s, and the controversial Gherkin skyscraper.

You will also stop by the beautifully restored 14th-century Leadenhall Market before making way to your final stop at the Monument, a large monolith built to commemorate the Great Fire of London in 1666.
