A hike through Sarajevo's eventful history: Just a few minutes from the Old Town, you take the cable car up to Trebević, the city's local mountain, where nature, art, Olympic anecdotes, and the traces of the siege in the 1990s come together.
You will hike right along the abandoned bobsleigh track built for the 1984 Winter Olympics. Once a symbol of national pride and the Olympic spirit, today it is one of the most impressive 'Lost Places' in Europe: covered with graffiti and murals, it is slowly transforming into an open-air gallery – and we are walking right along it!
On the hike, your guide brings the spirit of the Olympics to life with anecdotes and videos, and also makes the siege of Sarajevo more tangible. Of course, there is always time to stop for photos!
We will take a break halfway through at a local restaurant with a view over Sarajevo and Bosnian meze. Because after a hike, it always tastes twice as good.
The final descent takes you through the Mahalas – Sarajevo's historic Ottoman areas – and back to the City Hall. If the weather is good, we can see the sun setting over the city.
This tour feels like an outing with a good friend – and shows you parts of Sarajevo that not everyone gets to see.
