Next, we’ll drive past the Tree of Ken and Mary—a pair of century-old poplars made famous by a classic car commercial. Standing alone in Biei’s vast Patchwork Hills, it’s a regional icon. Your guide will stop at the best spot for you to take photos from the warm vehicle, capturing winter sunlight on snow without braving the cold.

Our next stop is Shirahige Waterfall, fed by underground springs. Named for its streams cascading down rock crevices like white whiskers, it plunges into the blue Biei River, with white sprays contrasting beautifully with the river. Its rumble echoes in the valley, and cool mist drifts by. In winter, icicles and rime turn it into a magical snow wonderland.

Shirogane Blue Pond, a signature Biei-cho wonder, boasts incredible cobalt-blue waters like a sapphire in the forest. The unique colour comes from aluminium particles in the water reflecting sunlight. Calm blue ripples spread through the trees, offering poetic views at every step.

Our final stop is the fairy-tale Ningle Terrace, hidden in lush woods. Connected by wooden walkways, it features small handcraft workshops and elf statues. Warm lights glow against green trees, creating a cosy, healing atmosphere perfect for photos.
