Enter the “home” of the first truffle traders in Tuscany: the Gazzarrini family (since 1885). In San Miniato, you will have a physical, sensory, and educational experience that combines nature, food culture, and local tradition.
The activity begins with digging for truffles in the woods, in an environment suitable for hunting, immersed in the typical Tuscan landscape. You will be accompanied by a truffle hunter, his dog, and a guide at your full disposal. You will walk among the scents of moss and earth, listening to the forest under your feet, and above all learning to respect the rhythms of nature and to trust the dog's nose, which leads you to the precious tuber.
After the hunt, the experience continues with a convivial moment: a welcome toast with a glass of Prosecco and a food tasting of mixed crostoni with sauces and truffle pairings (for example, truffle sauce, truffle bruschetta, 4 cheeses and truffle, mushrooms and truffle). Following this, the signature dish: tagliolino with a generous grating of fresh seasonal truffle, accompanied by wine, water, and coffee.
During the day, you will learn about the world of truffles: the secrets of the hunters, dog training, how to recognise them, and how to cook them. You will also be provided with photographic material taken during the experience. The visit concludes with a stop at the Gazzarrini shop, where you can purchase fresh truffles and truffle products.
Approximate duration: 2–3 hours. Recommended attire: sportswear and comfortable shoes; boots available if needed.
