History of Trapani Salt The museum houses a historical collection of tools, vintage photographs, documents and maps that illustrate the evolution of salt activity in Trapani, from the Phoenician origins to the present day. Visitors will discover how salt was not only a commercial product, but also a real bargaining chip and a strategic resource in the Mediterranean. ‍ Guided Tour and Educational Insights An expert Guide will accompany the participants, explaining in an engaging way the salt cycle (from evaporation to packaging) with the support of scale models and interactive installations. Saltworker's Experience: Living Salt with Your Own Hands ‍♂️ Becoming a Saltpanner for a Day Participants will wear the typical clothing of the saltpanner, with boots and traditional tools, concretely immersing themselves in the environment of salt tanks. Under the Guide of an Expert, they will learn how to “break” the salt crust, rake it and transport it according to the manual method that has made the history of salt pans. Practical Activity in the Tubs The activity takes place directly inside the operational salt pans, in a delimited and safe area. Travellers will be able to use typical wooden rakes to move salt, collect small heaps (the so-called "werewharves") and physically understand the effort and care behind each grain of salt. Connection with Nature and the Rhythm of the Sun The experience is marked by the times of nature: light, heat, wind and water play a fundamental role and will be explained in detail during the activity.
