In the company of our tour guide we will explore the monuments and traditions of this very pleasant seaside city, which has always been an important commercial hub. We will start from the Maritime Station, a masterpiece of the ArchiStar Zaha Hadid, we will cross Piazza della Libertà from which there is a general overview of the whole city: from the beautiful waterfront, to the Arechi Castle, to the elegant twentieth-century buildings overlooking the sea. We will penetrate the alleys of the medieval city centre to discover the secrets of the city, famous for the Salerno Medical School.
We will continue to San Pietro a Corte, the palace of Arechi II, a Lombard prince, and through the Via dei Mercanti, we will arrive at the Cathedral, a very important Romanesque monument, with its beautiful atrium, its precious ambos and its wonderful crypt dedicated to the Evangelist Apostle St. Matthew.
