Overview

The wild mountains of the Tibesti massif, represent a master for the most hardened Saharan travellers, for years a destination but difficult to reach due to wars and rebellions, it has become a viable destination if accompanied by good local guides who know the territory and population. , the mythical ethnic group of the Tubu.

We leave the city, to begin the great crossing of the desert which, along the cliff of Angamma, will take us to the foot of Tibesti

in the evening we will camp near Zouar in the past seat of the Derdè, the highest and only recognised political and religious authority of the Toubou ethnic group.

We leave Bardai following the green path along the Enneri Zoumri, where acacias and tamarisks abound, then the track alternates with very rough and stony sections

We arrive in Gouro, a small oasis inhabited by the Toubou ethnic group surrounded by beautiful palm groves and the historic carrefour of the caravans that connected Abechè capital of Ouaddai to Libya.
