Oyama Afuri Shrine has been deeply revered for centuries. During the Edo period (1603–1868), it flourished as one of Japan’s most popular pilgrimage destinations.
For lunch, savour a delicious ramen made with locally sourced ingredients at a charming restaurant renovated from a former pilgrim’s lodge.
In the afternoon, we take another local bus to visit Hinata Yakushi Temple, a sacred site with over 1,200 years of history. The temple houses revered Buddha statues designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan.
Finally, we return to Isehara Station, where the tour comes to a close, leaving you with lasting memories of Kanagawa’s spiritual heritage and natural beauty.
