The Las Pailas trails at Rincon de la Vieja National Park, situated in close proximity to Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin, offer a captivating display of the might of the Rincon de la Vieja volcano, the largest and most active volcano in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Witness the natural fumaroles releasing steam and sulphur from the yellow and rust-colored soil. Observe clay pots in varying shades of brown filled with simmering volcanic water, as well as fine grey volcanic mud bubbling and occasionally exploding in large pots. This volcano stands as a unique spectacle in Costa Rica.

Accompanied by our bilingual naturalist guide, you can embark on a 3.5-kilometer circular trek along the Las Pailas path through the tropical forest. This journey provides the finest vistas of the volcano, an opportunity to immerse in incredible natural surroundings, witness volcanic activity, and encounter diverse wildlife. The park boasts over 300 bird species and a multitude of other creatures, including armadillos, bays, iguanas, coatis, white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, and spider monkeys. As we conclude our park exploration, our one-day tour in Guanacaste concludes with the return walk to Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin.
