Hike to La Oropendola Waterfall and Explore Las Pailas Trails
The Las Pailas area brilliantly showcases the might of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, the largest and most active volcano in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Here, you'll encounter fumaroles, geysers, bubbling mud pots, and other unique features not found in any other Costa Rican volcano.
Accompanied by our bilingual naturalist guide, embark on a 3.5-km circular trek along the Las Pailas path through the tropical dry forest. This journey provides optimal views of the volcano, its volcanic activity, breathtaking nature, and opportunities to spot wildlife. With over 300 bird species and a variety of animals, including coatis, armadillos, iguanas, white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, and spider monkeys, you'll experience a wildlife-rich adventure.
After completing the hike, prepare for a revitalising dip at La Oropendola Waterfall. Starting from the park entrance, follow a path with diverse terrain, including a short walk within the river itself, leading to the waterfall. La Oropendola, an impressive 25-meter waterfall, cascades into a lively turquoise pool within the lush Blanco River canyon, creating an enchanting tropical oasis.
Following a relaxing time at the waterfall, our one-day Guanacaste tours conclude with a return hike to Hacienda Guachipelin. Alternatively, you can access Rincon de la Vieja National Park and La Oropendola Waterfall via the hotel's transport, either one way or return, just a 10-minute drive from the hotel.
Please note that the park entrance fee is not included in the tour price.
