What you can expect

  • Discover the Reeperbahn on a one-hour guided walk exploring St. Pauli’s history, musical heritage, theatre scene and changing social landscape.

Meet your guide at the large Five Guys restaurant sign, opposite St. Pauli underground station, near the Reeperbahn exit.

Explore the neighbourhood’s past and present as you visit Spielbudenplatz, the Dancing Towers, the theatre district, the police station, Hans-Albers-Platz, the Ritze and Große Freiheit. Along the way, learn about the area’s entertainment traditions, its connections to the Beatles and the people and places that have shaped its identity.

Your guide will provide a balanced introduction to St. Pauli, discussing how its nightlife, cultural venues and red-light district fit into the neighbourhood’s wider history. You will also hear about the social changes that continue to influence life in the area, with time to discover its music venues, theatres and nightlife options.

The route includes a walk through the red-light district. Please respect the privacy and dignity of those who live and work here, including sex workers, and follow your guide’s instructions regarding photography and filming.
