This tour is for those who want to get to know Coimbra in a deeper way, not just in 2 or 3 hours. It includes several entrances, and even a typical liquor of the region, in a reputable house.
The city, forever associated with its university and students, has impressive monuments… and gardens to discover. A city of Romans, Jews, Muslims, Visigoths, kings, and extraordinary green spaces, Coimbra's heritage spans several centuries. It's been a World Heritage Site since 2013.
Our tour will start at Praça 8 de Maio, with a visit to the Church of Santa Cruz, then we'll pass by Rua Visconde da Luz, Torre de Almedina (entrance included, visit to the Museum dedicated to the old walled city), Quebra-Costas, Sé-Velha (entrance included), Roman galleries of Coimbra (entrance included), an outdoor visit to the University, Penedo da Saudade, Botanical Garden, Pedestrian Bridge, Quinta das Lágrimas, Praça do Comércio, a stop for tasting regional liquor, and end at Praça 8 de Maio.
We'll stop for lunch around 1:00 p.m. (1 hour free time for lunch), and the time can be adjusted earlier or later if there's any setback during the visit, or if you wish.
The city has several ups and downs, which means it's a bit physically demanding, so good shoes and a bottle of water are recommended.
If you want to do a shorter tour, 6/5 hours, you can contact me and we can look into that, doing a shorter route and reviewing the price.
