Just one kilometre east of the Sanctuary of Demeter in Eleusis, you'll find a remarkably well-preserved ancient Roman bridge. Built from durable Piraeus limestone, it measures 50 metres in length and 5.30 metres in width. The bridge features a central section with four arches—two wider in the middle and two narrower at the ends—along with inclined approaches on both sides. Dating back to Emperor Hadrian's reign in 125 AD, this bridge showcases exceptional Roman engineering and played a crucial role in connecting the Sacred Way with the Eleusinian Kephisos River.
