The workshop will begin with a brief history of the instrument's cultural significance and the impact that the steel drum has had on arts and music. You will then be given a pair of drumsticks to use (which you will use to mimic me) as you learn to play the C Major scale. Once that is perfected, you will learn to play the song "Day-O". (I will also show you steel drum apps that can be downloaded for free which you can use to practice your new skills and continue to make beautiful, tropical steel drum music even when your holiday is over). During the second hour of the workshop, I'll play the steel drum and you can sit back and relax with a tambourine as we jam together on favourites by Bob Marley, Jimmy Buffet, and some highly curated Yacht Rock!
