Description

Taste your way through one of the world's most celebrated wine regions on this tour of the Côte d'Or, sipping Burgundy's best reds and whites in picture-perfect villages. An expert guide leads you between tastings, and shares facts and stories about the region's centuries-old viticultural traditions.

Meet up with your guide in Dijon and ride out of the city into the countryside. Known as the Côte d'Or, or gold coast, this fertile agricultural landscape produces some of the world's finest and most expensive wines. Learn all about the unique climatic characteristics of the area, chat about the region's terroir, and find out how grape growth is affected by local soil conditions. Explore various flavours and hear about the 2 varietals that traditionally make up all Burgundy reds—pinot noir—and Burgundy whites—chardonnay.

Journey through the sweet villages scattered throughout the verdant landscape, passing by the church steeples and stone houses of Marsannay, Fixin, Morey-Saint-Denis-Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Vosne-Romanée, and Nuits-Saint-Georges, all famed for their locally produced wines. Visit the vineyards themselves to see how the vines are cares for throughout the year, and then head into a traditional cellar for a guided tasting, where you can put all your new wine knowledge to the test as you discuss what sets each wine apart.
