Experience an unforgettable thrill in the wild heart of the Abruzzo National Park with an exclusive bearwatching tour on the trail of the Marsican brown bear. Follow an expert wildlife guide through the forests of the Marsican Mountains, crossing clearings and scenic trails until you reach the observation post on the rocks.
After a thorough introduction to the bear and its habitat, you'll set off on an easy 6 km walk (100 metres of elevation gain/loss). Once you reach the safe observation point, you can spot (if you're lucky) the Marsican bear in its natural environment without disturbing it, assisted by the guide's binoculars. The area is also home to deer, foxes, badgers, and sometimes wolves.
Bear-watching expeditions take place from May to October, when the bears aren't hibernating. The experience is suitable for everyone aged 6 and over (younger children only if they can stay calm), but dogs can't be brought for safety reasons.
Bring a backpack, hiking shoes, layered clothing, water, snacks, and a packed dinner (recommended). It'll be an evening immersed in the magic of the Abruzzo wilderness. If the weather's bad, the tour can be postponed or cancelled with a full refund.
IMPORTANT: The activity takes place in an area with no phone coverage. Meet at the Ponte di Santa Venere in Pescasseroli, then transfer by car to the start of the trail.
