All of this takes place in front of a large rock with a carved staircase, Pedra do Sal, a heritage listed in 1984. The staircase gives access to Morro da Conceição. This area of Porto Maravilha is called Little Africa because it was a point of sale and exchange for slaves and shelter for quilombos.
