This evening experience takes you to a riverside location outside Panglao, where fireflies can be seen in a natural mangrove setting.
After approximately a one-hour drive, you’ll board a small local boat with around 5 to 20 other guests and cruise slowly along the river.
As your eyes adjust to the dark, small points of light begin to appear in the trees. Fireflies gather naturally in the mangroves, creating a calm and simple experience shaped by the environment rather than a staged attraction.
During the cruise, your local guide will share information about the fireflies and surrounding ecosystem. A microphone and speaker are used so all guests on the boat can hear clearly.
At certain moments, your guide may also demonstrate local techniques, including clapping, to encourage the fireflies to glow more visibly. Depending on conditions, some guests may also have the opportunity to briefly hold fireflies.
The boat ride itself lasts approximately 40 minutes before returning to shore.
A simple Filipino buffet is available as an optional add-on and can be selected at checkout.
This is a nature-based activity in a local setting. The firefly area is located well outside the main tourist zone, so travel time is longer than the time spent on the river. Weather, wind, moonlight, and other natural conditions can all affect visibility and overall firefly activity from night to night.
After the experience, you’ll return to Panglao.
