What you can expect

  • Discover a side of the Korean DMZ that most visitors never experience.
This meaningful 2-day journey combines Korea’s essential DMZ attractions with an overnight local stay, village stories, music, meals, and a personal peace experience. Instead of returning immediately to Seoul after a standard sightseeing tour, spend the night in Paju and experience daily life in a community close to the border.
Your accommodation is DMZ Stay, a small guesthouse operated by local residents since 2018. More than just a place to sleep, it has welcomed Korean and international travellers as a base for exploring the DMZ and meeting the people who live nearby. DMZ Stay was recognised as a Local Creator by Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2021, and its host has also earned Airbnb Superhost status. Guests especially appreciate the warm hospitality, cleanliness, convenient location for DMZ travel, and the opportunity to experience local stories and culture in a relaxed setting.
On Day 1, meet your local host at Munsan Station and travel to Majeong-ri. Visit a hidden scenic spot known mainly to local residents, enjoy a Korean home-style dinner at a local restaurant, and check in at DMZ Stay.
After sunset, put on wireless headphones and join the DMZ Waltz in Moonlight experience. DMZ Waltz was created by Ivan, a Croatian visitor and musician who stayed at DMZ Stay after visiting the border area. Moved by stories of division, war, and everyday life near the DMZ, as well as by the hospitality of local residents, he composed an original waltz as a message of empathy, healing, and hope.
As you walk through a mural-lined village street and visit an old community well, the music and local stories offer a quiet and reflective way to experience a place often known only for conflict and division.
On Day 2, visit Imjingak and ring the symbolic Peace Bell. Learn about its meaning, leave your own message of peace, and receive an instant photograph and a commemorative certificate issued by DMZ Stay.
Continue to the Third Infiltration Tunnel and Dora Observatory, two of the most important destinations in the DMZ area.
With accommodation, selected meals, local transport, cultural activities, and major DMZ attractions combined in one itinerary, this experience offers a more personal and meaningful alternative to a conventional DMZ day tour.
This activity does not include entry into North Korea or access to active military facilities.
