Fans of the two writers will love this fully immersive experience into the deeply connected lives of two of Oxford’s greatest writers. The tour covers their writing, Christian faith and domestic life over the course of nearly four decades, and weaves a storey of how their friendship, rivalry and shared imaginations helped shape some of the most influential stories of the 20th century, an influence that is still felt today!

On this tour led by an Oxford graduate and Lewis/Tolkien specialist, we’ll tell the storey of simple friendship as we walk around the city, highlighting in particular seven evocative locations and offering a glimpse into the world behind their books. You’ll see the former home of Tolkien, see where their writing club The Inklings met for beer, tobacco and literary chats for over 30 years, admire the real Two Towers that inspired Middle-earth lore, and encounter the Narnia lamppost that sparked Lucy’s first steps into a magical realm.

You will also jump back in time and get a feel for how Oxford used to be in the early parts of the 20th century.

Along the way, your expert guide will bring to life the conversations and creative sparks that grew from the deep and sometimes fiery friendship and weave in their deep Christian faith and share how central it was to both their writing and friendship.

Whether you're a devoted fan or simply curious about Oxford’s literary heritage, this tour offers a captivating blend of storytelling, history and hidden corners that shaped two extraordinary imaginations.

A pub/refreshment stop will also be included on the tour.
