Interactive stations and animations are in place, where you can, among other things, explore a digital map of the expeditions and decide for yourself on the theories that inspired the journey by comparing statues Heyerdahl found on different continents.
You will also experience what life was like on board the 101-day journey – and how demanding it was to reach land after months at sea.
Thor Heyerdahl later completed similar achievements with the reed boats Ra, Ra II and Tigris, through which he championed his deep involvement for both the environment and world peace.
Watch the 1950 Academy Award-winning Kon-Tiki film, featuring authentic clips from the journey, narrated by Heyerdahl himself. The documentary screens daily at 12 PM in the museum's cinema.
