Activity itinerary

Orongo
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket not included
Located atop a cliff by the crater of Rano Kau, Orongo is an ancient ceremonial village that was the centre of the Tangata Manu, or “Bird Man,” one of Rapa Nui’s most mysterious and fascinating traditions. During the visit, you will walk among finely assembled stone houses and discover petroglyphs depicting Birdman figures, ritual masks and sea deities. From this sacred place you can also see the islets Motu Nui, Motu Iti and Kao Kao, scene of the spiritual competition that defined the new leader of the island. Accompanied by our local guide, you will immerse yourself in a time of physical challenges, sacred visions and deep connection with nature. An essential place to understand the worldview and cultural evolution of the Rapa Nui people
Rano Kau
  • 30m
Rano Kau is one of the three volcanoes that gave birth to Rapa Nui and one of the most imposing places on the island. From its viewpoint, you can observe the huge circular crater with its inner lagoon covered with totora, a unique ecosystem that contrasts with the cliffs that descend steeply into the ocean. This place not only amazes by its natural beauty, but also by its ancestral energy. It was considered a transitional space between the earthly and spiritual worlds, and is a perfect anteroom before arriving at the ceremonial village of Orongo. An essential stop to connect with the geography, history and natural strength of Rapa Nui.
Ahu Vinapu
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket not included
Vinapu is one of the most intriguing archaeological sites in Rapa Nui. Here you will find ceremonial platforms built with blocks of basaltic stone carved and assembled with surprising precision, in a style reminiscent of the Inca architecture of the South American continent. During the visit, you will walk among fallen moai, remains of ancient structures and fragments of pukao, the red stone headdresses that crowned the statues. This site has led to multiple theories about possible pre-Columbian cultural contacts and demonstrates the advanced constructive knowledge of the Rapa Nui people. A fascinating place that sparks questions and reveals the complexity of a unique civilisation.
