Not for the feint hearted, this hike has a few uphill slogs, some serious boulder-hopping, and usually an icy cold water crossing, so be prepared to get wet! This 4 hour trek will have you captivated by the raw beauty and untamed spirit of Australia's lush, wild outback. After the hike you will be rewarded with a delicious, fresh lunch and have the option to take a dip in the chilly waters of Ormiston Gorge's picturesque swimming hole. This site remains active to the local Indigenous people, who continue to work with ochre for ceremonial and artistic purposes. The vivid reds, yellows, and whites of the cliffs create a stunning sight, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the land. (time includes 20 minutes travel time from Ormiston Gorge to Ochre Pits)

Simpsons Gap

Millions of years of erosion has left us with this beautiful, natural cleft in the MacDonnell Ranges. Towering red cliffs frame the narrow gap where a tranquil pool sits feeding off a natural underground spring. This serene oasis is a haven for native wildlife, including the illusive black-footed rock wallabies that hide amongst the boulders of a massive rock-slide. This makes for a fun game of wallaby-spotting, usually with positive results! It's a picturesque final destination, perfect to take a moment of quiet reflection amidst nature's beauty before returning safely to your hotel for the evening. (time includes travel time of from Ellery Creek to Simpsons gap, the Simpsons Gap back to Alice Springs)
