Your day begins with a hotel pick-up by our friendly driver, who will take you to Tazari Village in the north of Zanzibar. The village is built on deep red earth and surrounded by green tropical plants, including banana trees, cassava plants, and mango trees.
As you walk through the village, you will meet a local community group who use natural materials to make fish traps and other tools. You will see mud houses made from red clay and watch villagers dressed in colourful kangas, which are traditional fabrics. A local woman will welcome you into her home and show you how to weave baskets and mats from natural palm leaves.
Next, you will visit a small workshop where local tools such as nails for building traditional dhows are made by hand. You will also walk to the Madrasa (Islamic school) or Primary School to see how children study and learn in a traditional setting.
During the tour, you can support the community by bringing small gifts or school supplies for the children or local women. This thoughtful gesture helps the community and makes your visit even more meaningful.
At the end of the tour, you will return to your hotel with a hotel drop-off. This walking tour offers a true experience of Zanzibar’s culture, traditions, and daily life, giving you memories of a village few tourists have the chance to see.
