Quirinus, Hermann von Hessen, or Cardinal Frings – people usually know the men of Neuss. As is so often the case in historical narratives, women are more of a side note. Yet it was precisely here that women played a decisive role in shaping the city's history, creating the basis for economic success in the Middle Ages, modern nursing in the 19th century, and political innovations in the post-war period.

We start our walking tour at the town hall, where three women are the focus. Next, we continue to Münsterplatz, where witches and saints have left their mark in equal measure.

We continue along Klarissenstraße to the Blut- and Mühlenturm. Here, the focus is on the women of the Middle Ages. Our last stop is the imposing Obertor, where we bridge the gap back to the present with the Clemens Sels Museum.

On the walk back to the market along the Kulturmeile, there will then be time for questions and discussion.
