What you can expect

From Greek and Roman sculptures to artefacts from Pompeii and Herculaneum, Naples' Archaeological Museum houses a world of beautiful antiquities. Bypass the queue outside and spend more time exploring all the diverse collections this museum has to offer.

Located in the heart of the city's centre and founded by King Charles II in the late 18th century, the National Archaeological Museum is a treasure trove of ancient relics, with over 3 million objects of archaeological and historic importance.

Discover the fantastic Farnese Collection, which hosts famous Roman and Greek marble sculptures as well as the Egyptian collection, one of the largest assortments of Egyptian art in Italy.

Ancient coins and medals, Roman bronzes, mosaics and frescos from walls of Pompeii are also held here. Visit the Secret Cabinet, also known as the Secret Room, and see erotic objects found in Pompeii and Herculaneum. These items were considered obscene and removed from public view for a long time.
