What you can expect

  • Enjoy a beautiful day in Nagasaki taking in the beauty of the Nakashima river and the Temple District! This is one of the most beautiful areas of the city, and it is packed with hundreds of years of history as well.

The tour will start at Meganebashi, the oldest arched bridge in Japan, built in 1634. The bridge's name comes from its spectacle-shaped appearance when reflected against the river.

From here we will visit Kofukuji Temple, a Chinese temple with over 400 years of history. While enjoying views of the beautifully maintained garden, you will learn about Japanese tea culture and enjoy matcha and traditional sweets.

Next we will finish the tour at Suwa Shrine, the largest Shinto Shrine in Nagasaki. The shrine was erected by orders of the Tokugawa Shogunate to push back agaisnt the spread of Christianity in 1614. The shrine is also home to the Suwa Animal Park, where you can feed some of the animals that call the shrine home.
