Parque del Estrecho de Magallanes

Parque Pinguino Rey
  • 1h 30m
  • Admission ticket not included
Here we have the option to go and visit the King Penguin Reserve on the way to Lago Deseado or if it doesnt match with their day off we will do it on the way back to Punta Arenas. The King Penguin Reserve in Tierra del Fuego is an amazing place where more than a hundred of these spectacular birds might be seen in their natural habitat. Here we have guided tours by our hosts who are lecturers in information about these magnificent species of Penguins as they are all year around leading visitors towards the lookout points in order to respect nature as much as possible. The idea is that they would never expect any human presence to avoid feeling they are being disturbed as they might be incubating their eggs or perhaps there are new chicks in the group.
Inútil Bay
  • 2h
The first views of Bahia Inutil named that way a long time ago, translated would become Useless Bay as the waters of the Strait of Magellan were so shallow more than expected by the navigators coming around these landscapes and actually also has to do with the inmensity of the Bay which does not offer much shelter if the strong winds, typical of the area threat them.
Lago Deseado
  • 12h
In the afternoon for sure, after seeing amazing views of endless pampas, sheep, ranches, sailing in the waters of the Strait of Magellan, enjoying the pristine waters of several lakes in Tierra del Fuego we get to the most spectacular views of Lago Deseado.
Day 2: Lago Deseado Excursions as you wish

Lago Deseado

Among the different options in this incredible Lodge we can choose from fishing in the Lake Deseado rainbow trouts, brown trouts might be caught. • 2 stops
  • Meals: Not included
  • Accommodation: Not included

Caleta Maria
  • 12h
  • Admission ticket not included
Another option would be to drive enjoying amazing views of different lakes in amazing colours to go to Caleta Maria in the Almirantazgo Sound. The Darwins Range is the way how the Cordillera de los Andes in known down here were so many explorers from all over the world came once fascinated by the beauty in order to survey the Terra Incognita. Here there is an optional tour by boat which takes an hour to go and visit the elephant seals colony or perhaps you might be interested in joining this full day tour to go and visit three glaciers and another one of the elephant seals colonies of the area. A great day
Day 4: Lago Deseado Punta Arenas
  • 2 stops
  • Meals: Not included
  • Accommodation: Not included
Cerro Sombrero
  • 4h
Today we leave in the morning towards Punta Arenas, in order to make it interesting we would drive through a different route visiting Cerro Sombrero a small village of workers of the ENAP, National Company of Oil settled in Tierra del Fuego since 1945. After that another ferry with a shorter distance on it but with great views of the Atlantic Ocean so we will be enjoying the same views Ferdinand Magellan had in 1520 when we did sail along the Strait of Magellan of his way to the Pacific Ocean.
Estancia San Gregorio
  • 1h
We will pass by the Estancia San Gregorio part of the Sociedad Explotadora Tierra del Fuego. Some picture stop for a great introduction to the local history of the area and how the sheep farming industry became such a big and important economic activity in Patagonia. Not only in Chile but in Argentina aswell.
